Grandpa's Pride and Joy

(All four)

Toy Box for our First Grandchild

Our first grandchild was born  Nov. 2000
I used a quilt that he received
as a baby gift for the pattern.

Joshua's Daddy was a Fireman
so Joshua received many
fireman related gifts.

The fire truck which will be
at the front of the toy box.

The sides, front and top have been carved and painted.

Putting on the finish

I started the Toy Box
the month he was born.
He was almost 1 year old
when I finished it, as I was
unable to work on it full time.

The second grandchild - born in 2002 - "Choo Choo" Trains were his decor.
The third grandchild - born in 2003 -  Green John Deer Tractors.
The fourth grandchild - born in 2005 - she would have probably had Strawberry Shortcake or
Precious Moments for her decor.
However, after 3 boys, she was a lot of Pink's and she has been a Dora fan.
Actually, her very favorite is "Elly" the blue elephant.
Now - this Grandpa is way behind in carving for his grandchildren.
The Toy Box was carved and put together before I retired.
Since I have retired, I am wondering how I had enough time to do a Toy Box and work at the same time.
And . . . . . Retirement isn't really called "Work".

and
Grandpa

Notice the blue elephant - "Blue Elly"
in the top left picture under
Future Woodcarvers and Grandpa.
"Blue Elly" was a bright blue.
The picture next to it, "Blue Elly" is a little lighter.
Then "Blue Elly" is even lighter with the Birthday Cake.
And . . even lighter in these pictures.
"Blue Elly" is a very special friend
